What can I say about my love EB Mackie? She's my fearless warrior woman who dreams big and can get ANYTHING done! An entrepreneur at heart, when I met her she single handedly ran her own painting and handywoman company for a decade while being an awesome mama and homeschool teacher to our now 11-year-old daughter.

Although she loves to write and won't usually admit it, she's quite the artist as well and great with a brush in hand. She LOVES children's books and still reads them out loud to us every night. Her librarian grandmother was her best friend and hero growing up, and whenever EB sits down to work on her books, she thinks of her Gram and knows she would be proud.

About The Mackies

A is for Abstract, and U is for unique. This is not only the opening line of our flagship book, but it also accurately describes us as co-creators.

We "met" accidentally online while 3,000 miles apart. From a chance article and casual comment, our friendship ignited instantly from a creative spark we recognized in each other. Although we thought we'd never actually meet, our friendship grew into a love story that resulted in the award-winning children's books families have come to love.

Truly inspired by the deep love we share and respect for each other's creativity, we live our life as one big creative adventure meant to be shared with your best friend. We've traveled the world exploring new and wild places, and currently we travel the US in our RV studio. When we're not writing or illustrating books, you can find us spending time in nature, making art, or hiking with our daughter and dog.

CK Mackie

How do I even start to describe CK Mackie, the man, the myth, and the legend? Born in Yorkshire, England, to a working-class coal mining family, CK's lifelong passions have been art and athletics—from painting and drawing to running and karate, all the way to breakdancing and graffiti (much to his mother's dismay).

As a young man, CK joined the elite British Army Parachute Regiment, serving for 18 years across England, Scotland, New Zealand, and finally America. Throughout his military career, he continued creating and selling art in galleries and shows around the world—completely self-taught, color blind, and never taking a single art or drawing class.

Just like the man himself, CK's art has continued to grow and evolve over the years. One of my favorite things about my Mackie boy is his enthusiasm for exploring new mediums and trying new things—like when I asked him if he wanted to illustrate my stories... Well, the rest is now history.
