EB Mackie

What can I say about EB Mackie? She is my fearless warrior woman who dreams big and can get ANYTHING done! She is an entrepreneur at heart and ran her own painting/handywoman company for a decade. She is an awesome Mama and homeschool teacher to our 11-year-old daughter. Although she loves to write and won't usually admit it, she is quite the artist as well. She LOVES children's books and reads them out loud to us all every night. Her Librarian grandmother was her best friend and hero growing up, and whenever she sits down to work on her books, she thinks of her Gram and knows that she would be proud.

About The Mackies

A is for Abstract, and U is for unique. This is not only the opening line of their flagship book, but it also accurately describes its creators, CK and EB Mackie. When not writing or illustrating books, the Mackies can be found spending time out in nature, camping, or hiking in the Sierra Nevada with their kid and doggo.

CK Mackie

How do I even start to describe CK Mackie, the man, the myth, and the legend? CK was born in Yorkshire, England, to a working-class coal mining family. Since childhood, his lifelong passions have been art and athletics. From painting and drawing to running and karate, all the way to breakdancing and graffiti (much to his mother's dismay). As a young man, CK joined the elite unit of the British Army, the Parachute Regiment. His military career continued for 18 years, carrying him from England to Scotland, to New Zealand, and finally landing in America. Throughout those years, CK continued to create art and simultaneously sell it in galleries and art shows around the world. CK is self-taught and has never taken a single art or drawing class. Just like the man himself, CK's art has continued to grow and evolve. One of my favorite things about my Mackie boy is his enthusiasm for exploring new mediums and trying new things, just like when I asked him if he wanted to have a go at illustrating my stories. Well, the rest is now history.
